***Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to the initial crit group signup, the form has been temporarily closed so that initial groups can be organized. If there is continued interest and the initial groups are successful, the form will open back up! Thank you so much for your interest and support within the arts community at this time!***
In response to the measures being taken around the world to keep folks distanced from one another, that also means a lot of us are in the studios and want to share, learn, and interact like usual. For students, this is particularly significant timing, as degree shows are right around the corner. It’s a challenging time, but it’s also an opportunity to try some new things.
This form is a general signup for those interested in connecting to another peer group online for crits over the next few weeks. While this is totally untested, there was a ton of interest, so we’ll give it a try! My role will be to compile information and compare your preferences/experience, and match you into groups of approximately 3-6. It’s not super scientific, but I will consider your experience/length of time you’ve been making work along with your online access options. You’ll take it from there; I will not be personally involved in any crits. You will also be able to work out among yourselves how best to connect virtually/socially (ie. which platform). I will not share any of your information with anyone else except your Instagram username to connect via an Instagram group DM, where I’ll put you initially in touch with each other within a reasonable amount of time.
Above all, please remember that these groups are meant to be a safe space for honest and genuine thought and critique. To the best of my ability, the groups will maintain diversity and respect your selections while keeping in mind that some of the most interesting feedback and conversations happen when we are interacting with people from different places or making very different work from us. Unfortunately yngspc or myself cannot be responsible for any of the interactions that take place in these group crits. If you sign up, I assume you agree to respecting one another and this space, and utilizing it for good! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at kate@yngspc.com.
