I’m excited to share that I will be joining forces with a great group of folks at Real Tinsel, a new artist-run space in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a co-curator responsible for about half of the shows presented throughout the year, starting in late summer 2019.
I’m excited about the potential of this “set” space as a platform for realizing exhibitions more consistently throughout the year in conjunction with other Young Space opportunities and exhibitions that take place increasingly further afield. As you may or may not know, when not traveling for exhibitions, residencies or other projects, I’m based in Northeast Wisconsin, about two hours north of Milwaukee. The opportunity to connect to and participate in Milwaukee’s thriving art scene will facilitate exhibitions and projects that require something more permanent, as a complement to many of the nomadic or popup exhibitions I’ve also been involved with!
As a truly collaborative environment, Real Tinsel was co-founded by artists Shane McAdams and Keith Nelson, and houses studios, gallery space, an inviting subterranean flat file viewing space, and another artist-run project called Chamber returning to Milwaukee after a brief hiatus. It’s located at 1013 W Historic Mitchell St, Milwaukee, WI in a fabulous retail storefront. Very excited for this collaboration! More info on exhibitions and news can be found at realtinsel.com.
